Former Hong Kong Standard managing editor John Berthelsen and Far Eastern Economic Review editor Philip Bowring have launched Asia Sentinel, a regional online news portal aimed at filling the "vacuum" for hard, regional news. <BR><BR> Launched this week, the Hong Kong-based site is targeting affluent readers who are seeking more in-depth news. <BR><BR> Aiming to cover 22 markets, Bowring said: "Coverage of the region is grossly inadequate, be it in global or local news. Most press focus on Asia's earthquakes and tsunamis, but not much else. We look at serious issues that most people ignore."
