Reebok realigns India brief from JWT to McCann

DELHI: Reebok's advertising account has been assigned to McCann Erickson in India. The duties were earlier being handled by J. Walter Thompson.

The media account remains with GroupM's Maxus.

Reebok would not divulge details of the account shift. "We have cordial relations both with the WPP and IPG group globally, so there's nothing to read between the lines," said Subhinder Singh, managing director, Reebok India.

Sources close to the deal cited the reputation of Prasoon Joshi, McCann regional creative director, south and southeast Asia, as a key factor in the agency winning the account.

The most recent Reebok campaign was 'Outperform'. The latter was a a global marketing campaign featuring international and Indian sports icons endorsing the brand. It was launched in late 2003 during the India-New Zealand-Australia cricket series. That campaign ran until mid-2004; Reebok has not released any new campaigns since.
