Two million entries have been received online through a microsite hosted by Yahoo India, while a high profile roadshow attracted 18,000 students.
BBC World deployed a multi-platform marketing communications plan to back the launch of the prestigious quiz.
Neville Taraporewalla, director of sales and business development at Yahoo India, says: "The response is by far one of the largest that Yahoo India has received among the various online promos we have done."
The series, which is shown in the South Asia region, is sponsored by Samsung. The Singapore Tourism Board also signed a sponsorship deal.
