Rach to depart Ogilvy for regional role at Prudential

HONG KONG - Managing director of OgilvyOne and Neo@Ogilvy Hong Kong Sean Rach will be departing the agency at the end of the month to assume a regional marketing role at Prudential.

The agency has confirmed that Kitty Wong, OgilvyOne Hong Kong’s long-time general manager, will replace Rach.

According to agency sources, the news broke internally yesterday through a joint announcement between Rach, OgilvyOne Asia-Pacific COO Jerry Smith and Ogilvy Hong Kong president Royce Yuen.

Sources add that the mood in the office is “amicable” as it was recognised Rach was offered a prominent position at the financial services company.

Rach has been with Ogilvy since 2000 and has held a series of roles. In January 2002, he was promoted from general manager of OgilvyInteractive to managing director, and in 2005, he was named managing partner of OgilvyOne Hong Kong. He was also GM of Ogilvy AsiaNet.

He previously worked at brands Sprint Communications and Hallmark Cards. He is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and served as a naval officer from 1998 to 1999.

Wong, meanwhile, joined the agency in 1999 and previously worked at Bates141 and Grey. She will officially assume her new post in October, an Ogilvy spokeswoman said.
