PuraPharm extends product line to pets

Chinese medicine firm PuraPharm is moving away from its traditional product line to introduce a new range of herbal supplements for pets.

According to company chiefs, PetzUp is the first Chinese herbal supplement tailored for dogs, and is aimed at capitalising on consumers' growing awareness of health issues for themselves and their pets. With a marketing push expected to include a significant portion of POSM, the brand seeks to fill a niche in the pet food category.
"As consumers are becoming increasingly health conscious, we see a huge opportunity in health products for pets," said Viola Man, director, PuraPharm.
"The challenge is to build the PetzUp brand as the only professional, high quality, safe and reliable health food brand for pets," said Man. According to Man, the PetzUp brand — developed by TMN Design — aims to own the emotional space, by conveying 'energetic, lively and joyful' brand properties.
"The second half of the brand 'Up', signifies a high spirit, lively feeling, and one can immediately associate this to dogs jumping up," said Man. "We're the only one with the know-how and capability to make Chinese medicine available to pets, and this is what sets PetzUp apart from the others."
PetzUp will roll out first in Hong Kong, with a China launch dependent on the brand's success in the city.
