Publicis acquires Korean digital firm

SEOUL - Publicis Groupe has acquired the 11-year-old Korean interactive marketing agency Portfolio - a move that establishes fledgling digital network Publicis Modem in the country.

Portfolio, which was founded in 1998 and has 70 staff, will drop its name in favour of Publicis Modem Korea.

Founder and CEO Heewoon Park will continue to run the agency.

Korea becomes the seventh Publicis Modem operation to launch in Asia, seven months after the first office opened in Singapore. Arlene Ang, regional MD of Publicis Modem noted: “This acquisition gives Publicis Modem access to the Korean market, one the world’s fastest growing market in digital advertising. It strengthens our network in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Beijing, Taiwan and New Delhi. Portfolio is arguably Korea’s best agency specialising in web-based communication, and we are thrilled to have them aboard.”
