This is the first time SlashSupport has appointed a PR firm. The account will be handled by Ogilvy PR's Chennai office.
"The win vindicates the belief that the easiest way to bag new accounts is to do excellent work for existing clients. This account came through a reference from the iGate chief executive officer Phaneesh Murthy, with whom Ogilvy PR has been working for the last one year," said Ajay Kakar, president of Ogilvy PR India.
"The mandate is to build a distinct image based on a slew of new technology initiatives and to position the company as niche player in the booming business process outsourcing space."
Senior consultant S. Prabhu said 'advanced tech support' is a new category: "The end at which SlashSupport operates is unique - and to that extent, it will be a challenge to educate media and other audience groups.
"For instance, letting prospective employees know about the space/ opportunity, and to ensure that it is not mistaken for a run-of-the-mill low-end tech support player," he said.
