Public Relations: King takes chief rep job at Apco's Shanghai office

SHANGHAI: Apco Asia has named Murray King as chief representative of its Shanghai office. The longtime Canadian diplomat previously served as Canadian Commercial Consul in Shanghai.

According to Apco Asia CEO Richard Burn, King is expected to bring strong commercial, legal, and government experience to the Apco team. "King brings significant depth and experience to our China team particularly in investment consulting," said Burn.

In his capacity as Commercial Consul at the Canadian Consulate General in Shanghai, King helped Canadian corporations invest in China. His industry experience spans a number of sectors including transportation, information and communications technology, and manufacturing.

"Apco is recognised as the leading integrated investment, public affairs and communication firm in China," said King.

"I look forward to contributing to Apco's clients and joining an exceptional team of consultants."

King's appointment follows the recent promotion of Vivian Fung to head the agency's Hong Kong office. In addition, the agency is expected to expand its Asian operations, once Apco Worldwide buys out Grey Global Group's 70 per cent ownership stake in the company.
