Proximity scoops Visa activation prize

SINGAPORE - Visa has handed its regional Olympics activation assignment, worth an estimated US$8 million, to Proximity, after a pitch that also included 141, Tequila and RMG Connect.

BBDO's sister agency won the business after a final round of consideration that saw it square off against RMG Connect.

"Visa is a wonderful vote of confidence," said BBDO and Proximity Asia chairman and CEO, Chris Thomas.

The agency will now roll out a region-wide activation programme to accompany Visa's sponsorship of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Visa has been a global Olympic sponsor for nearly two decades, and counts Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang as a key celebrity endorser.
