Proximity Philippines ECD departs

MANILA - Tony Sarmiento (pictured), the executive creative director of Proximity Philippines, is leaving after a two-year stint with the agency.

Sarmiento is believed to be considering his options, but is expected to return to a role in above-the-line advertising at another agency.

Over an extensive career, Sarmiento has had a close working relationship with David Guerrero, the chairman and chief creative officer of Proximity's sister agency BBDO Guerrero Ortega.

Guerrero said: "I worked with Tony in the '90s while at Ogilvy, then at BBDO, then again at Proximity when he returned from a stint in Malaysia. We go back a long way."

He added: "Tony has worked hard for the past two years, building Proximity into what I believe is now the best digital agency in the country. But there comes a time when people feel the need to do something different, and we wish him well for the future."

Guerrero will run Proximity's creative department during the search for a permanent successor.
