Pro-pitch fee agencies to form association

JAKARTA - Indonesian agencies that have signed the pitch fee protocol, are in the process of registering themselves as an association.

This is to ensure that all the information and negotiation on pitch fee matters is managed efficiently.

Once the registration is confirmed, the association plans to form a secretariat of three people headed by an executive director.

Ridwan Handoyo, chairman of the advertising advisory council, a division within PPPI, confirmed the news and said the executive director who will head the secretariat will be chosen from senior members of the advertising fraternity.

Lack of awareness regarding pitch fees has become a major issue for agencies in Indonesia. A source says that in recent pitches organised by Bank Mandiri and Djarum, invited agencies had to educate clients about pitch fees. Eventually Djarum chose to invite agencies that were not part of the protocol while Bank Mandiri has yet to decide its course of action.

About 28 agencies have signed the pitch fee protocol in Indonesia.
