Primedia in talks to roll out teen title in Singapore

SINGAPORE: America's second-largest magazine publisher Primedia is working towards a licensing deal with MPH Magazines to publish Singapore and Malaysian editions of Seventeen.

Primedia is also keen to roll out its parenting title Baby in Asia and is considering the launch of some of its automotive titles as well. The move into Singapore and Malaysia follows Seventeen's launch in the Philippines, Indonesia and China in the last two years.

Beverly Chell, head of Primedia International, said Seventeen would succeed in Singapore because even though the country is small, the magazine's target audience of 14- to 24-year old women was an important segment for advertisers and represented a significant proportion of the total population.

MPH has nine magazines, including monthly women's title Female and car title Torque.
