Planned Dubai Exhibition World will be world's largest column-free space

DUBAI The Dubai World Trade Centre, one of the Middle East's leading exhibition and conference venue operators, has unveiled its ambitious designs for the US$2.2 billion Dubai Exhibition World.

At 1,020m long - the equivalent of nine football pitches - Dubai Exhibition World's largest hall will be the longest column-free exhibition hall in the world. The development will offer 120,000 sqm of exhibition space at the centre of the three million sqm site. Fairs and Exhibitions (F&E) has already committed to organise the biennial Dubai Air Show at the venue and will take advantage of its proximity to the new World Central Airport. The new development marks the next stage of Dubai's plan to become a leading centre for exhibitions and global events. In the last 20 years, the UAE's exhibition and conference sector has expanded from a handful of dedicated events to a US$3.3 billion a year industry, with an annual event expansion of 15 per cent year-on-year in terms of visitors. Helal Saaed Al Marri, director general of Dubai World Trade Centre, said: "The ongoing growth of the exhibitions industry within the Middle East and Dubai, in particular, is presenting a range of challenges and opportunities. "Dubai Exhibition World is designed to be a comprehensive solution to large events and to complement the sector's growth. "The centre will effectively be the largest development of its kind in the world."
