Pinney to re-angle GroupM's offerings

TOKYO - Newly-appointed GroupM Interaction Japan managing director Keith Pinney is planning to position the group as a full-service offering to tap into a resurgent Japanese economy, seeing increased activity in the digital space.

Pinney, previously CEO of Diffiniti Japan, a unit of Isobar, will be joined by the end of July by former Diffiniti colleague Andrew Wilcox, who has been named creative services director. “We’re a media operation, but because digital covers so much, we’re aiming to offer creative-based solutions from strategy, right down to execution,” said Pinney. “The timing is good and we’re really at a tipping point with the clients that we’re talking to. There has been trepidation because of the recession, but we’re turning the corner.”

Pinney will report to Darragh Hardy, GroupM Japan CEO, with a dotted line into Ruth Stubbs, GroupM Interaction Asia-Pacific CEO.
