SINGAPORE: The Economist has signed on Starcom's former regional media

director Tim Pinnegar as its Singapore-based ad manager.

Pinnegar, who left Starcom last year, takes over this month from Nick

Mesquita, who is moving to The Economist's New York office to a yet

unconfirmed position. Pinnegar will work alongside Mesquita until

mid-June when he relocates.

The appointment marks Pinnegar's first role in publishing. He has worked

mainly in media agencies in London, Singapore and Malaysia.

"I believe the experience I gained from over 17 years in agency media

will be a great help," he said. "With increasing options each year,

there is a tougher fight for clients' dollars."

Pinnegar is joining The Economist as it embarks on a major redesign,

which he said was a clear demonstration of the title's committment to

readers and clients.
