PHD Singapore appoints strategy lead for Unilever global communications planning unit

SINGAPORE – PHD Singapore has appointed John Gamvros as global head of content and digital strategy on the Unilever Global Communications Planning account.

John Gamvros

Gamvros is the strategy lead for the personal care category, with a focus on branded content and digital. He will be working closely with the 10-member team in Singapore headed by Marie Gruy, managing partner, PHD Singapore and the other 30-member team in London, headed by Robert Ray, managing director of the Unilever global planning unit.

Prior to the new role, Gamvros was with Saatchi & Saatchi as regional planning director, based out of Singapore. He also spent seven years at OMD Australia, where he was a founding member of Fuse, OMD’s branded-content arm.

In addition to managing the global communications planning across the brands, the team will work to keep Unilever’s marketing at the forefront of new media thinking across social, mobile, search, content and gaming.

The hires follow PHD’s appointment to the global communications planning for Unilever following a pitch with Mindshare, which sees the agency responsible for more than 90 per cent of Unilever’s products, including household names such as Lux, Lifebuoy, Clear, Close Up and Ponds.

PHD also handles the media planning and buying for Unilever in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, New Zealand, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
