in June 2011, Hotels.com appointed Starcom Hong Kong to handle its online media business across Greater China and the Southeast Asia region, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
PHD reported that it won Hotels.com’s offline media business across Greater China and SEA over a year ago. The new appointment provides greater opportunity for more 'integrated and efficient end-to-end' campaigns, according to the agency.
Abhiram Chowdhry, senior marketing director, APAC, for Hotels.com, said that understanding online consumer sentiment is critical in the travel and leisure industry. The Hotels.com online business is managed out of PHD’s regional hub in Singapore and led by Marie Gruy, regional business director.
The agency will leverage its online transaction expertise, network coverage and partnerships in real-time bidding to drive better targeting and acquisition efficiencies for Hotels.com.
In the online accommodation booking segment, the company competes with counterparts like Asiarooms.com and Agoda.
