Presentations, which took place last week, were believed to involve several of P&G’s incumbents, including Hill & Knowlton, Weber Shandwick, Strategic Public Relations and Fleishman-Hillard. It is believed that Edelman, which has worked extensively with P&G in the past, is not taking part, due to its global decision to focus on Unilever’s international PR roster.
The review follows the arrival in Asia last year of Erik Jonnaert as P&G’s vice-president for external relations in Asia, after implementing a similar strategy at P&G Europe. A source involved in the review said that while P&G is aiming for greater corporate oversight, it is some distance removed from the efforts key rival Unilever has made to promote its core brand.
The source said that the review would address “brand and CSR initiatives that are incredibly fragmented”.
Jonnaert would say only that the review was “still work in progress”.
