P&G leads record-breaking CCTV auction

BEIJING - Foreign companies, led by Procter & Gamble, upped adspend by almost two thirds at CCTV's annual airtime auction, which reaped Rmb 8 billion (US$1 billion), an 18 per cent increase on 2007.

Foreign companies spent 65 per cent more than they did in 2007, accounting for almost one quarter of total bids. P&G led all companies by bidding approximately Rmb 400 million, ahead of Yili which splashed out Rmb 370 million.

Meanwhile, China Airlines spent Rmb 36 million to secure the weather report ad spot during the Olympics month of August.
