Pfizer on hunt for holding company

GLOBAL - Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is believed to have begun a comprehensive review of its global marketing activities, in a bid to consolidate the massive business with one holding company.

The Asia-Pacific component of the review, which includes PR, digital, CRM, event media, consumer advertising and healthcare, has kicked off in Australia and is expected to visit several local markets in the rest of the region. The review is being managed by Pfizer’s in-house procurement unit.

Approximately four years ago, Pfizer conducted a similar exercise for its cardio-vascular unit, which was eventually won by WPP. A source pointed out that concern over costs was a likely driver. “Some of their products have been struggling.”.

According to sources, RFPs, looking for integrated solutions, have been sent to key global holding companies.

At present, Pfizer works with a range of agencies.
