Petronas reviews creative business in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - Petronas is thought to be on the lookout for a creative agency for its lubricants business.

The company has reportedly invited 10 top creative agencies in Malaysia to submit credentials.

The incumbent Leo Burnett has been handling three categories of Petronas business, including domestic corporate, motor sports and lubricants.

Insiders say that three agencies will be shortlisted for an interview and the account will be handed to an agency based on their peformance.

A source added: “It’s an interesting process since the agencies will not need to make presentations. The shortlisted agencies will only be interviewed by clients and this should save a lot of time and effort for both sides.”

In April, Petronas handed its international corporate account to BBDO

The company has recently launched a heavy-duty lubricant for diesel engines called Petronas Urania. In Asia the focus for marketing this product will be China, India and Southeast Asia.
