PERTH Western Australia lost US$4.1million in delegate expenditure as a result of the September 11 terrorist attacks and the demise of Ansett, according to a Perth Convention Bureau survey. From September 15 to November 15, five out of 50 conventions were cancelled, losing US$1.6million in revenue. Reduced attendance resulted in a US$2.5million loss. But the expansion of Perth's meetings facilities, such as Burswood International Resort Casino and construction of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is enabling Western Australia to attract larger conevents, said the bureau.
