Pepsi eyes mums with festive bottle

PepsiCo gave its PET bottles a festive look to reach beyond its usual youth target to housewives buying beverages for Chinese New Year celebrations.

Landor Associates, which has been steadily expanding its relationship with PepsiCo in the region, was tasked to create a more contemporary, festive look in place of the traditional paper-cut design that featured last year. The design incorporated the words, 'Wish you a Pepsi Cola', which in Chinese sounds like, 'Wish you 100 Happiness', as well as the Chinese zodiac dog to show Pepsi's "cool and energetic spirit". The dog icon also features across a range of marketing applications, including POS and the website."Our goal was to create the unexpected," said Landor client director Rhian James. The design only features on PET bottles, which are preferred over cans for reunion dinners.
