Pearson acquires Wall Street English

BEIJING - Global media company Pearson has acquired Wall Street English - an English-language education publisher for adults in China - from The Carlyle Group for US$145 million.

According to Pearson, which also holds the Financial Times, the company will consolidate its Longman Schools division with Wall Street English into one business, combining its marketing, advertising, customer support and technology services. It also plans to open new Wall Street English training centers in cities across China.

In its release, Pearson added that, over the past two years, Wall Street English saw annual revenue growth of more than 40 per cent and is poised to generate US$70 million in sales this year.
