Peak Tower reopens in Hong Kong after multimillion dollar renovations

HONG KONG The Peak Tower has completed an extensive facelift and is now open for business.

Following its 18-month redevelopment, which cost US$12.8 million, Hong Kong's iconic attraction now offers visitors 360-degree views of Hong Kong from its rooftop viewing terrace and sky gallery. The Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels-owned Peak Tower now has four new restaurants as well as a number of casual dining outlets. The tower also boasts a market-style shopping arcade. The Peak Tower's Viewing Terrace is available for private and corporate events. Wall Street Journal Asia, DaimlerChrysler and EA Games are among the companies who have recently held parties and other events at The Peak. During the past six months the tower has re-opened in gradual phases. First to open in May was the expanded Madame Tussaud's, with retail outlets following in mid-July. Chairman of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels, Sir Michael Kadoorie, said: "The Peak experience is enduringly popular, providing an eagle's eye view of Hong Kong's panoramas by day and night. "We believe that the substantial improvements we have made to the Peak Tower will turn this venue and the surrounding area into an even livelier destination against an amazing backdrop."
