PCA Life Korea aligns with McCann Erickson, UM

SEOUL - PCA Life Korea, a subsidiary of UK financial services group Prudential, has appointed McCann Erickson and Universal McCann to handle creative and media duties as agencies-of-record.

The move follows a competitive pitch that included incumbent DDB, Diamond Ogilvy and Publicis Dialogue.

T Kim, president and chief executive of McCann Worldgroup Korea, was unable to provide details as to the value of the account or what the insurer was looking for in terms of marketing activity. However, Kim stated that he was "extremely excited" to work with the firm to "boost its brand image and help differentiate its products and services in a highly competitive environment".

Key players in the life insurance sector are Samsung Life Insurance, Korea Life Insurance and Kyobo Life Insurance, collectively known as the 'big three'. PCA Life is one of the fastest-growing foreign players in the industry, having acquired local insurer Youngpoong Life in 2002. It recorded an average annual sales growth rate of 94 per cent over the past five years in Korea.
