PATA unveils details of new annual summit

VANCOUVER The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has confirmed initial details of its first annual PATA Summit, a forum for travel and tourism leaders that aims to focus on strategic issues facing the industry.

Speaking after the PATA board of directors meeting in Vancouver, PATA president

and CEO Peter de Jong announced the group had formed a partnership with two

organisations specialising in the hospitality, investment and aviation sectors to support

the summit, which is scheduled for April 2008.

“I’m delighted to say that the Burba Hotel Network (BHN) and the Centre for Asia

Pacific Aviation (CAPA) have agreed to partner with PATA on the Summit,” de Jong said. De Jong added that the organisation had selected Bangkok as the chosen venue

for the inaugural summit out of a list of five possibilities from across the Asia Pacific region.
