Aun Koh, previously co-founder and publisher of East and Shopping magazines which shut down in February after Gnomadic Publishing collapsed, will head PanPac Future Titles as general manager. The division will launch the Look Book and a general interest lifestyle magazine called Twenty Four Seven in mid-June. Both monthlies will have a print run of 25,000 and will be pitched at Singapore's "new cosmopolitan elite".
"With the closure of East as well as Cream, there isn't a lot of local magazines out there for readers with a more cosmopolitan taste, said Koh, who is the socially-connected son of Singapore's former ambassador to the US, Professor Tommy Koh.
He said both titles would be targeted at those who are well educated, fluent in English, have high disposable incomes and a taste for the finer things in life. Former Wall Street Journal reporter Kris LeBoutillier has been named managing editor of Twenty Four Seven. Its content will include cultural trends, travel and social issues among other topics.
The core audience will be people in their late 20s to early 40s who might currently be reading overseas publications such as Esquire and Details, said Koh.
Commercial photographer Geoff Ang has been appointed editor-in-chief of Look Book, which is pitched at affluent people in their late 30s to early 60s who want to enjoy their wealth. The magazine will feature photo-spreads and content covering luxury product and service categories, including fashion, cars, spas and resorts.
