The 800-hectare integrated resort will be marketed as E-City Manila and will be positionedas the hub of gaming, entertainment and tourism in Asia — a ‘Las Vegas of the east’.The PAGCOR project is expected to attract more than US$10 billion in foreign investments and boost the country’s international arrivals to ten million in five years.
The head of the state gaming monopoly revealed that they are already in talks with Greekcasino and resort operator Loutraki – a major player in the European gaming industry – to develop Entertainment City’s first phase.PAGCOR chairman and CEO, Efraim Genuino, said: “The reason we lack tourists is we lackhotels. Development of big hotels and entertainment areas is key.”Entertainment City will contain five-star themed hotels, convention halls, theatres, amusement parks, educational and cultural centres, shopping malls, a commercial district, sports stadium, restaurants, gaming centres and a racetrack.Entertainment City will be developed in three phases over seven years.
