By Patricia Wee Singapore Pacific World Singapore has joined Asia's Convention City, the joint marketing alliance involving Suntec Singapore, surrounding hotel partners and Singapore Airlines and supported by the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau. Hotel partners include the Conrad Centennial Singapore, Marina Mandarin, The Oriental, Pan Pacific and Swissôtel The Stamford. Suntec Singapore director of sales and marketing James Papineau said: "It will help us to grow by giving more choice. It's really important to understand that the centre cannot market itself in isolation. We take a partnership approach to attracting business from international markets. Nobody comes to Singapore because of Suntec, but for what Singapore, the destination, has to offer." Pacific World Singapore director of sales Victor Seah added: "We are the full, exclusive member PCO (Professional Conference Organiser) in the alliance. We had to satisfy the criteria of being at least five years in existence, being a full member of ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), SACEOS (Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers) and having proven specialisation in international associations and corporate meeting markets. "We also had to satisfy the criterion of having at least one specialist that is IAPCO (International Association of Professional Congress Organisers) qualified and to demonstrate a strong international network. Seah flagged the unity of being part of a single, corporate body as beneficial to Pacific World. "With one strong voice, we can tell organisers that we offer a one-stop, seamless experience. We can consolidate proposals with all the necessary considerations and this increases the comfort level of clients who would like to do business in Singapore."
