Outdoor incentives

Tuk tuk rallies, river-boat races and guided wilderness explorations are some of the main offerings across Laos

INCENTIVE IDEAS
River boat race

Every year during the Bun Nam or water festival, all riverside cities organise races in long, ornate boats. The ancient festival was experienced by a 100-strong group from Geopost Germany in Luang Prabang recently. After a crash course of 15 minutes training, monks bless the boats and the race begins. The 200-metre races are held in two legs that last 45 minutes each. Awards for the best oarsmen are followed by a gala dinner by the pool of La Résidence Phou Vao.

Tuk Tuk rally
Best held in Luang Prabang, given the lack of traffic in the sleepy town, groups are divided
up into teams of up to 12 and given charge of a tuk tuk. Equipped with a handful of the
national currency (Kip), a city map, camera and team t-shirt, each team is then given a list
of challenges to complete. These include going to various parts of town to take pictures,
taking part in a game of Kataw (Takraw) – the Lao national sport – and negotiating for various items at the local market.
Maximum group size is 120 delegates. Jungle survival challenge A two-day incentive in the Lao jungle. Hike through rice paddies, rainforests and visit Khamu villages scattered along the banks of the Mekong River. Teams of six are equipped with a tent, compass, first aid, water and instructions. They must find food, overcome obstacles and solve problems to make their
way. A great teambuilding exercise, the maximum group size is 40 delegates.
