Optimedia names Chong as new GM

KUALA LUMPUR - Optimedia Malaysia has named Audrey Chong as general manager, replacing Jeffrey Raymond, who had been with the agency for more than 10 years.

Chong, most recently group director of MC2, MEC’s sister agency, joined Optimedia after Raymond left to join media owner AMP Radio Network. Her brief is to oversee some of the agency’s bigger accounts: HP and L’Oréal, which shifted its planning and buying business from MindShare to Optimedia (Media, 6 March) earlier in the year.

Chong has hired four senior planners, who are due to join the company within the next six weeks. More new hires are imminent, according to Philip Talbot, CEO of ZenithOptimedia Asia-Pacific. “Audrey was selected for her management skills, account handling and an in-depth understanding of the Malaysian media scene,” he said.
