Possibly no one reading this magazine has ever heard of Dame Nellie Melba, that great Australian singer who achieved amazing fame in the early part of the 20th century. She also had a penchant for making glittering farewells from the theatre only to pop back again and again. As a result, 'More farewells than Dame Nellie Melba' became a popular catchphrase.
