Ong ends OMD Singapore's CEO search

SINGAPORE - OMD has filled the long-vacant top job of its Singapore office with Lisa Ong from Starcom Taiwan.

Ong replaces former OMD Singapore chief executive Gan Boon Guan, who left to run Starcom Singapore in April last year.

Although no official start date has been confirmed, she is expected to join OMD in the spring time.

Much of Ong's career has been spent with the Starcom network. Before running the Publicis Groupe agency's Taiwan operation, she was MD of Starcom Indonesia. She also had stints at Starcom Singapore and Leo Burnett in Hong Kong.

"Lisa is a true blue media person. She's a go getter, she's great with clients and she will make a strong strategic head. She will be brilliant for the organisation," said Jim Goh (pictured), regional managing director of OMD Southeast Asia.

Ong's shift to Singapore means that Goh will relinquish his additional duties as country head of OMD Singapore. "I have enjoyed doing two jobs, but I'm pleased to finally be able to take off my other hat," Goh added.
