One-to-one marketing: Proximity names Bond to helm its expansion in Asia

ASIA-PACIFIC: Proximity, part of BBDO Worldwide, has opened in Singapore with Simon Bond as regional business director Asia to expand the relationship-marketing agency in Asia.

Bond has been tasked to set up 12 Proximity offices across Asia. Hong Kong opened last year and this year has seen openings in Malaysia, Korea and Japan. He plans to open offices in China, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines by year-end.

BBDO's investment in a relationship-marketing operation comes after its rivals have long established one-to-one businesses in the region.

Bond said: "Clients which we are servicing out of the Singapore office are Asia Pacific Breweries, Pizza Hut, Visa and ICI Paints and on a regional level GE Capital, Masterfoods and Mercedes.

"The plan is to sign up all existing BBDO clients to Proximity so that as a group we can offer an integrated through-the-line service."
