Those times when you can really do what you think is right.
And the worst?
Politics that get in the way of you really doing what you think is right.
Your all-time favourite film and why?
Midnight Run- contains my favourite little interchange of any movie:
Charles Grodin: "Have you seen any strange people around here lately?"
Leathery old man at bar: "Nope."
Charles Grodin: "Are you from around here?"
Favourite book or CD?
Book - 'Ragtime' by EL Doctorow - an epic portrait of forces that shaped America, which can still teach us all a thing or two about how we relate to each other. CD - 'Rattlesnakes' by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - those jangly guitars, that tortured voice...oh, to be a student again!
Favourite print title?
IHT - concise, to-the-point, balanced.
Favourite restaurant?
Tetsuya in Sydney. Simply astonishing.
Do you have a favourite gadget?
My disposable cigarette lighter.
Favourite fashion designer?
Do shoes count? I'm a bit like Imelda Marcos when it comes to shoes - Jeffery-West boots are the best.
Weirdest thing in your closet?
A green bespoke suit that seemed like a good idea at the time, but which stopped being a good idea after its second outing.
What are your hobbies?
Playing with the kids while the Red Hot Chili Peppers are thumping in the background, and watching football.
Favourite holiday destination?
Australia.
Who would play you in a movie?
Edward Norton - he would make a much better me than me.
How would you title your movie?
'Substance needs a front'.
All-time favourite ad?
An anti-smoking ad done by Lowe Venezuela about five years ago. Very simple, scary, but ultimately ineffective - I was shaking so much after seeing it that I had to have a smoke.
What crosses your mind before bed?
I'm knackered!
