Omnicom reveals China identity

Omnicom has unveiled a new identity for mainland China, Hong Meng, which translates into English as Magnificent Alliance. <BR><BR> The holding company for agencies such as TBWA and OMD decided to create a new Chinese name because non-native English speakers find 'Omnicom' hard to pronounce. "We wanted to ensure the Omnicom name in the Chinese language would translate well across seven different Chinese dialects," said Frank Chen, China CEO of Interbrand, which led a competition to craft the new name among students from Beijing's Tsinghua University. <BR><BR> The competition was won by Hao Yuqian, who won an internship at an overseas Interbrand office as her prize.
