OMD wins Sony brief

SYDNEY - OMD has beaten Mindshare to win Sony's international US$160 million Computer Entertainment business following a shortlist round that began last month.

Sources at OMD confirmed the win, adding that in Asia-Pacific the only markets affected were Australia and New Zealand.

The pitch aimed to consolidate Sony’s Computer Entertainment media business across 12 markets into a single agency. Its business had been held by several networks globally, including OMD, Mindshare and Starcom in Australia.

Leigh Terry, managing partner of OMD Australia said: "The great thing about PlayStation is that as entertainment and technology collide they are about so much more than simply gaming – they will continue to be at the forefront of communications strategy pulling on all the levers of experiential, branded content, digital, direct – and tapping into all aspects of OMD’s diverse offering.".

OMD will manage the media duties of Sony entertainment brands including PlayStation. It entered a shortlist round with Mindshare following a pitch that involved MPG, Starcom MediaVest Group and Vizeum.
