OMD takes sole gold at award show

HONG KONG - Hong Kong 4As chairman Mabel Leung has called for local media agencies to improve their 'out-of-the-box' thinking, after just a single gold award was handed out at the second annual media awards show in Hong Kong.

The sole gold went to OMD for its work for Levi's Type 1 'How bold are you' campaign in the best smart use of budget category, with Leung noting that judges "found the media executions innovative and that the campaign achieved quite a bit within a limited budget". OMD Hong Kong's Ada Fung scored a bronze in the best media planner category.

No best of the best was awarded during the evening, nor best media sales planner. The show received 80 submissions, slightly down on last year. "The judges would like to see more out-of-the-box thinking that integrates consumer insights and communication strategy," she said.
