Ogilvy's Cheong sets sights on China

BEIJING - Ogilvy's regional creative president Eugene Cheong (pictured) is to begin working in China as the agency looks to raise its performance in the market.

Cheong is set to spend three months in Beijing and Shanghai from May to develop Ogilvy’s talent pool in the market. A statement from the agency said Beijing would be the principal base for Cheong. It described the move as a sign of China’s “importance as a centre of creative excellence”.

“China has never been more important to our client’s businesses,” said Ogilvy China chief executive Shenan Chuang in the statement, adding that Cheong’s focus on China would aim to build on a reputation established through working with brands such as Motorola.
