OgilvyOne names Loehnis head of digital, Moss regional ECD

ASIA-PACIFIC - OgilvyOne has appointed former network director of Isobar Asia-Pacific Barney Loehnis (pictured) as its regional head of digital and has additionally promoted joint executive creative director of Ogilvy Singapore Pete Moss to the post of ECD for OgilvyOne Asia.

In his newly-created role, Loehnis is charged with developing OgilvyOne’s digital offerings across its 13 offices in the region, as well as integrating digital practices across Ogilvy Group companies. His appointment will be effective 1 February and he will be based in Hong Kong.

Loehnis resurfaces at OgilvyOne three months after resigning his post at Isobar, the digital arm of Carat, where he spent nearly four years.

Meanwhile, Moss will oversee the creative direction of OgilvyOne across the region. He assumes his position immediately and is based in Singapore.

Both Loehnis and Moss will report to Asia-Pacific president of OgilvyOne Kent Wertime, based in Tokyo, and will work closely with the directors of OgilvyOne Worldwide in North and South Asia, Chris Reitermann and Chris Riley, respectively.

According to Wertime, the high-profile hiring follows a difficult economic year that “proved that digital is not immune to the downturn".

“But it was a pivotal year in the industry because companies were able to see what digital can do. For that reason, we’re very bullish as we start off the year, sparking the next stage of growth,” he continued, adding that the agency aims to bolster operations region-wide as each market represents a different sort of opportunity. “What’s important is that there isn’t a set of priority markets anymore. There are large markets like India and China; very advanced markets like Japan and Korea; regional hub markets like Hong Kong and Singapore; and growth markets like Vietnam and Indonesia that are very important to clients. We’re only as good as our weakest link, so it’s about standards everywhere.”

The news follows the announced reshuffle of OgilvyOne’s Hong Kong and Singapore management teams, as Thomas Mouritzen was promoted to the post of MD of OgilvyOne Singapore, business director Greg Carton was promoted to director of client service, and group AD Sandy Ling to business director in Hong Kong.
