OgilvyOne bolsters creative strength

BEIJING - OgilvyOne China has unveiled two new hires to support the arrival of Wang Daqing, who takes on China responsibilities of recently-departed Dirk Eschenbacher (Media, 9 August).

The agency has created two new positions in a bid to improve its resourcing in China. Katherine Huang has returned from the agency’s New York operation where she worked on the global IBM account to take up a role as business director.

Huang is expected to work across the agency’s key growth accounts, including China Mobile and Nestlé.
Rianne Kow comes on board as director of emerging platforms and e-business for OgilvyOne China after taking a brief sabbatical. She has been tasked with assisting clients in developing marketing strategies in the digital arena, with a particular focus on e-commerce and social networking.

Daqing, who was previously a creative at RMG Connect, has joined as executive creative director of the agency’s Beijing operation, after Eschenbacher - who was also OgilvyOne’s Asia-Pacific ECD - shifted to Tribal DDB as regional ECD (Media, 9 August).

Daqing brings to the operation significant expertise behind the camera, with a part of his career dedicated to independent filmmaking, a period during which he was responsible for producing the critically-acclaimed Chinatown’s Butcher movie, among others. In his new role, Daqing has been tasked with driving the creative output of OgilvyOne Beijing and overseeing production.

The trio will report to OgilvyOne China president Chris Reitermann.

“As more and more clients are expanding into areas such as new media, we are increasingly seeing a changing business model which requires more strategic digital capabilities.

“These hires, combined with the recent establishment of our digital lab here in Beijing, are an example of how we are making long term investments to build up our digital capabilities,” he said.
