Ogilvy taps Shaw to lead regional planning service

HONG KONG: John Shaw has been named to Ogilvy & Mather's top planning position in the Asia-Pacific region, after six years at independent agency Wieden+ Kennedy.

He takes over a role that was previously filled by Mark Blair, who was promoted to managing director of the agency's Japan operations last year.

O&M has more than 60 planners in the regional planning department. "I'd like to keep that momentum (from Blair's days) going and will be looking for ways to help ensure that great thinking is really useful to creative people," he said.

During his stint at Wieden+ Kennedy in various parts of the world, Shaw worked on Nike, Coca-Cola and Microsoft. Prior to Wieden+Kennedy, Shaw worked at Young & Rubicam in London and direct marketing agency Wunderman.
