Ogilvy seeks hackers and artists for internship programme

SINGAPORE – Ogilvy is on the hunt for hackers, filmmakers and other creatives to fill its internship programme, which launches this month.

'Lucky 8' is a rolling programme that will see eight interns work with Ogilvy Singapore every three months.

The agency said it is looking for hackers, artists, game designers and “anyone with creativity in their blood” to take part in the programme.

Steve Back, chief creative officer at Ogilvy, said the aim is to move away from other intern programmes, which he said are often skewed toward traditional creatives.

"This is quite different in that we are looking for people with core competencies outside those we already have," he said. "The idea is to add to the department rather than just fill numbers. The fundamental difference is we want to learn from them as they learn with us.”

Back added that the interns would be “thrown into the deep end” and put on live projects during their three-month stints.

“It’s not about them making coffee," he said. "It’s about helping them grow. It’s a two-way street. The intent is that we try and offer something really different.”
