Ogilvy PR to set up HK office for Dubai trade arm

The Dubai Government has commissioned Ogilvy Public Relations to assist in setting up the first overseas office of its trade arm, the Dubai Development & Investment Authority (DDIA), in Hong Kong.

Ogilvy was one of five PR firms that met with DDIA's Asia-Pacific director, Arif Ghanim, who is seeking to promote business opportunities within Dubai to companies in Asia. Ogilvy has assigned Ross Hughes, Nan Dong and Yvonne Tung to the account. The trio will help oversee a series of media and corporate activities for the DDIA, developing research projects, business leader forums and launching specific Dubai-based direct investment and business opportunites for Asian companies. "Ogilvy has developed a range of initiatives that will ensure DDIA and Dubai's business and investment opportunites are relevant and on the radar of the right people in Asia," Hughes said. Hughes singled out the DDIA's basic challenge as differentiating perceptions of Dubai with broad perceptions of the Middle East. "Ogilvy worked with the DDIA to develop a plan to build from the ground up in Asia," Hughes said. "This included defining and implementing a marcomms strategy as well as media outreach and event management."
