The brief is to promote gasohol as an alternative to benzene to Thai motorists, and a campaign is slated to launch this summer on TV, radio and billboards.
The pitch was called last month (Media Online, 27 February), and was contested by Saatchi & Saatchi, McCann Erickson, Dentsu and local agency SC Matchbox.
The Ministry of Health's usual roster agencies include Saatchi & Saatchi, JEH United and Ogilvy.
"Alternative energy is a major driver of business growth and development in Thailand," said Rati Panthawi, management partner, account management, Ogilvy.
"The Ministry of Energy has set a goal to reduce total energy consumption by 20 per cent. We've been tasked to shift the perception that gasohol is a cheaper alternative to regular fuel."
Gasohol is a mixture of ethanol, which is obtained from fermenting crops, and ordinary petrol. It burns slower and at a lower temperature than regular motor fuel, and is supposedly less environmentally-damaging.
