Ogilvy, Euro pull out of tourism review

HONG KONG - Ogilvy & Mather and Euro RSCG have pulled out from the Hong Kong Tourism Board's (HKTB) ongoing advertising review, amid concerns that the budget for agencies is declining fast.

Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi, DDB and Grey have made presentations for the account, and are expecting a decision by early April. One source said the process was too “rushed” for a global pitch.

“Financially, it is also not viable,” he added. While a HKTB spokeperson has confirmed that the overall marketing budget stands at HK$331 million (US$42 million) for this year, it is thought the above-the-line component is just $42 million - half that at the last pitch, according to another source.
