Ogilvy China nets rock star for digital

BEIJING - The co-founder of China's first heavy metal band has joined Ogilvy China as group director for digital strategy.

Kaiser Kuo, previously the China bureau chief for business and technology magazine Red Herring, joined the agency earlier this month. In his new role, he will work with senior management to strengthen digital integration across the group and help develop a long-term digital strategy.

Kuo has also been English editor-in-chief for internet start-up ChinaNow.com and creative director for wireless value-added service provider Linktone.

In 1989, Kuo helped form Tang Dynasty, a best-selling heavy metal band that was in the vanguard of Chinese rock.

Kuo also has an undergraduate degree in political science and an MA in East Asian studies, and plays lead guitar for another heavy metal band.
