Ogilvy campaign for Castrol wins accolade for '03

SINGAPORE: A campaign for Asia-Pacific Lubricants (APL)'s Castrol GTX that ran in Thailand late last year has doubled sales and nabbed an award for Castrol Best Ad in Asia-Pacific for 2003.

APL marketing manager Asia-Pacific passenger cars Shyam Balasubramaniam would not disclose specific sales results, but said the campaign had exceeded expectations considerably.

The campaign was designed by Ogilvy & Mather.

Balasubramaniam said: "I really liked the strategy as it was simple, direct and impactful. It had a memorable 'big picture' which communicated the product benefit and could be rolled out into all forms of communication.

"I am convinced that it is possible to work borderlessly with O&M. Their structure enables them to develop a collective understanding about global and Asian markets."
