Ogilvy and Leo Burnett face off for Chevy

SINGAPORE - Competition for General Motors' regional creative pitch for Chevrolet has thinned to two agencies, with Ogilvy Advertising understood to be contesting a final round with Leo Burnett, the incumbent.

The news has not been confirmed by General Motors marketers, though sources close to the company confirm that McCann Erickson and local agency Religion are no longer in contention.

McCann, which is globally aligned with GM, is expected to retain Chevrolet's PR and digital marketing activities.

The marathon review, which began in January, started out as a Singapore-only brief but was later broadened to cover Southeast Asia, a move that prompted the withdrawal of independent Singaporean agency Formul8.

Leo Burnett controls the lion's share of the Chevrolet business in Southeast Asia as incumbent in Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
